CODE STILL YELLOW

The Department of Homeland Security held a press conference today to announce that it has no new, credible or specific threats against Boston or New York, but that people in these -- and all -- cities should be on heightened alert for terrorist activities. "Terrorists want to swing the election", is the message.

Now, I know that the Bush administration hates to give up the limelight. I know that in a week where President Bush's top fundraiser is indicted, it must suck for his rival to pick a popular running mate. And I know that it's going to take an outside organization that his father spent years supporting to secure his re-election - as in 2000.

In light of all of this, and as someone who's wife is today working diligently in the Boston Convention Center, I'll answer Secretary Ridge with a quote from the incorrigible Tina Fey;

"Bitch, I couldn't be more alert!"
