two bookstores

Flying from Toronto to San Francisco today, I have a lay-over in Dallas (don't ask.)

As I waited for my flight in Toronto, I noticed the bookstore there had made a sort of fort out of four books:

Against All Enemies: Inside America's War on Terror by Richard A. Clarke
Worse Than Watergate: The Secret Presidency of George W. Bush by John W. Dean
The Price of Loyalty: George W. Bush, the White House, and the Education of Paul O'Neill
House of Bush, House of Saud: The Secret Relationship Between the World's Two Most Powerful Dynasties by Craig Unger

As I walk to my gate in Dallas I see an equally tall wall of book:

Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry by John E. O'Neill, Jerome R. Corsi

Yeah, all of North America seems pretty divided.

it's all about the college

If you haven't started each day checking electoral-vote.com, you will now.

The Electoral Vote Predictor 2004 tracks the electoral votes state by state. It has a great state-by-state map, up dated with 2-30 statewide polls every morning.

I really like the graphic illustration, the relentless electoral college focus, and the generally scientific way he approachs the process.

Kerry was ahead for weeks, then behind, and how it's a toss up again.

RALLY!!!

The THK Rally in Fort Collins went fantastically well. In a very conservative town, we thought we'd see between 400-600 folks. If we opened up all the airwalls in the Colorado State student center ballroom, we could handle up to 1200 - but that was a pipe-dream.

Thanks to a great advance team and a great CSU Young Dems organization, we had (according to the guy counting at the door with a clicker) 1678. Well beyond what the fire marshal or air conditioning could accommodate.

Sorry it was so hot in there, but man, that was fun.

Good work everyone!

THK in Ft. Collins

Join me and the next first lady tomorrow afternoon on the campus of Colorado State University - at the Lory Student Center. Just say "I'm a friend of Bryan Mason" and you're in the front row!

Or just ask for Kat Dey (she's on-site Kerry staff), and be REALLY demanding. It'll be hilarious!

Stop by. It should be really cool.

send mike to antarcitica

Mike sends instant messages of nothing but URLs. They are generally things you don't want to see - especially in the middle of the work day... with your staff around. While you are projecting onto the screen in the conference room.

This is win-win.

Mike wants to go to Antarctica. There's a small window between mid-December and mid-February when you can go there. He wants to dance with Emperor penguins. He wants to sit on a ship deck chair wrapped in ten blankets reading Celine. He wants to stand on a continent with less than 50 people.

He needs roughly $5,000. I gave my $10. You should do... just to say you did.
And so I can get some work done.

In exchange for your money he'll be gone from SF for almost a month! Completely gone!! With the added small possibility of death thrown in.

You can make a contribution to this campaign via PayPal. Your donation will go to Mike Monteiro(mike@biggerhand.com).

Five things

(One of the) Five things that are getting under Zell Miller’s hide

4. That ole’ possum just keeps a’gettin’ into his seed corn

I love list humor. Always have.

NOTE TO SELF

If one shows up a little late to a hot, Labor Day event with thousands of teamster, all drinking free beer while they wait, one shouldn't be surprised when folks are "chatty" to anyone that might take the stage.

Just a little reminder.

THK in Philly

If you're in Philadelphia this Labor Day weekend, stop by Festival pier on Monday. There a huge Labor Picnic and Mrs. Heinz Kerry is going to speak. 5000 teamsters grilling + the next first lady = Fun.

Also, we're heading up to Lehigh Valley for another Labor picnic. Smaller, and in a great little park. Should be charming and fun.

Cheese Steak is good!
