Best Race from Yesterday: Montana.
California had it's drama: Looks like the RNCC's $4.5 MILLION in spending in the CA-50 race is going to keep Francine Busby from winning this special election by 4% or so. Amazing. And too bad.
But of all the primaries yesterday, the real drama was in the Democratic primary in the Big Sky state.
Jon Tester, a longshot until recent days, scored a stunning upset in Montana. An organic farmer from Big Sandy, Tester turned away a popular and well-funded Democrat (John Morrison). And what folks are talking about is this: He's really nice.
There wasn't any mud-slinging, he didn't tear apart the party, and he spent half as much as his opponent. He won for two reasons: 1) he tried to meet everyone he could and 2) folks just think he's a smart, nice guy.
He now faces the somewhat unpopular Conrad Burns.
Congrats to the likeable farmer.
